Chinese government ‘hacks into White House office in charge of the nuclear launch codes’ (Oct 2012 Re-Post)

  • White House  confirmed the hack but downplayed it, saying no damage was done and it was  unsuccessful
  • Military  Office targeted which controls the President’s travel, interoffice  communications, and nuclear codes

The White House revealed today that cyber  attackers linked to the Chinese government attempted to hack into a computer  system in the White House Military Office.

While the official statement down played the  attack, saying that it was aiming for an unclassified ‘isolated’ network, one  report claimed that the hackers targeted the White House Military Office which  safeguards sensitive data like the nuclear launch codes.

‘This was a spear phishing attack against an  unclassified network. These types of attacks are not infrequent and we have  mitigation measures in place,’ a White House official told MailOnline.

Spear phishing is a common form of hacking  where a cyber attacker will send an email to it’s target and hope that the  recipient clicks on the links of downloads the attachments enclosed in the email  in order to allow their malicious software to infiltrate the recipient’s  computer and data.

White House officials confirmed that a hackers did try  to ‘phish’ into the Military Office server but said there was no damage done

‘In this instance the attack was  identified,  the system was isolated, and there is no indication  whatsoever that any  exfiltration of data took place. Moreover, there was never any impact or  attempted breach of any classified system,’ the  White House official  continued.

A conservative newspaper that has been  regularly critical of the Obama administration, called The Washington Free Beacon,  first published the report on Sunday and said that the attackers were linked to  the Chinese government.

They wrote that the attack, which allegedly  occurred earlier in September, was yet another example of the ‘failure of the  Obama administration to press China on its persistent cyber attacks’.

In response to the article, an unnamed White  House official contacted Politico to clarify the story, saying that  while the ‘attempted’ hack did take place, it did not cause any damage because  the targeted system did not contain any sensitive data.

The breach occurred using a ‘spear phishing’  tactic, in which a hacker sends uses common phrases or inviting subject lines to  draw the recipient in and attract their attention in hope of gaining access ot  their computer.

Once those steps are taken- and it is unclear  whether they were in this case- the links or attachments enable the hacker to  download their malicious software, also known as malware.

While the attacks on government officials  provides the greatest risk in the political realm, private American businesses  have also been the target of Chinese hackers.

In November 2011, the National  Counterintelligence Executive  released a report detailing the extent of damage done by Chinese and Russian  hackers on various companies.

One example was that of a paint company  called Valspar Corportation, which had a number of its proprietary paint  formulas stolen. The move cost the company $20million.

Foxconn, a Taiwanese electronics manufacturer  that produces products sold in America including iPhones, was hacked in February  by a group called Swagg Security which then obtained and released the email and  credit card data for banking information for American companies including Apple  and Microsoft.

The state-run Medicaid system in Utah was  hacked last month, prompting calls for tightened security around any government  health databases that would be implemented in accordance with the Affordable  Care Act. Administrators claimed that no personal medical data was removed from  the site but it was not operational for ten days.

Though the political slant of the Free  Beacon reporting is clear, it is also true that this is not the first  time  that Chinese hackers have gotten unnervingly close to White House  communications.

The New York  Times reported that in June 2011,  Google and FBI officials confirmed that a  wide-ranging phishing attack had  taken place after the hackers had  directed malware towards the personal Gmail  accounts of an unknown  number of White House staffers.

The FBI never released the names, or even t  he number of staffers who were thought to be targeted in the attack.

In the latest hacking, however, the target  was much more clear and focused solely on the White House Military Office.

The Military Office is in charge of arranging  the President’s travel, coordinating inter-office conference calls between top  government officials, and most notably the security of the so-called ‘nuclear  football’, the nickname for the suitcase that contains and controls all of the  nuclear launch codes.

The Free Beacon, which Politico points out  published a story about a Russian submarine trolling in North American waters  which was flatly denied by numerous government agencies, says a breach in this  office would be devastating to the country’s security.  ‘This is the most  sensitive office in the U.S. government,’ an unidentified former U.S.  intelligence official told the paper.

‘A compromise there would cause grave  strategic damage to the United States.’

The threat of a damaging cyber attack has  raised the alarm in the highest levels of government, as President Obama penned  an op-ed in the Wall Street  Journal last year pushing for more  dedication to digital security.

‘So far, no one has managed to seriously  damage or disrupt our critical infrastructure networks. But foreign governments,  criminal syndicates and lone individuals are probing our financial, energy and  public safety systems every day,’ he wrote

Obama made ‘a secret deal to support Hillary Clinton’s 2016 White House bid in exchange for Bill’s support during re-election campaign'(Re-Post from JUN 2013)

  • Explosive revelations about a behind-the  scenes deal between the political rivals
  • Bill Clinton dubbed Obama ‘incompetent’ and  ‘an amateur’ during secret meetings, sources claimed

By  Daily Mail Reporter

President Obama made a secret pact with the  Clintons where he agreed to endorse Hillary in a 2016 run for the White House –  in exchange for Bill’s seal of approval during his re-election campaign last  year.

The explosive revelations are made in an  exposé published this week on the Obama administration. It also claims that no  love was lost between Bill Clinton and Obama before the deal was brokered.

According to campaign sources quoted in The  Amateur by Edward Klein, Bill Clinton tried to have Hillary challenge Obama for  the presidency during his last term.

The pact: Bill Clinton agreed to endorse Barack Obama  during his second run for the White House… in return for the same favor for  Hillary Clinton in 2016, according to an explosive new book

At a meeting in their home town of  Chappaqua, New York, Bill complained that  Obama was ineffective in the Oval Office, calling him ‘incompetent’ and an  ‘amateur’, according to the New York  Post.

Obama returned the hostile sentiment and had  already frozen former president Clinton out of the Democratic campaign in  2008.

However, the President’s tactics reportedly  changed when support dropped in 2012 and chief strategists advised that Bill  Clinton’s endorsement could give Obama a boost with dubious voters.

Subsequently at the 2012 Democratic  National  Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, Bill Clinton  officially nominated the  sitting President for re-election.

Obama was nominated unanimously by the 5,556  delegates of the convention.

Clinton’s 11th-hour support for Obama came  with the condition that his wife would have the President’s support in  2016.

However, the book then claims that Obama  began to reconsidered this idea – enraging Bill Clinton.

The reported culmination of the  behind-the-scenes wranglings was an on-camera love-fest nterview with Obama and  Hillary Clinton when the Secretary of State stepped down in January.

The pair lavished compliments on one another  as they gave a rare joint interview.

Obama said during the interview that he  considers Mrs Clinton ‘a strong friend’ and she described their relationship as  ‘very warm, close’.

More than anything, their camaraderie and  grins appeared to show that time had healed the bitter rift from when they faced  off in the Democratic primary leading up to the 2008 election.

The ongoing tension between Obama and Bill  Clinton has been well-documented.

During the election campaign in 2012, Clinton  said Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s business career was  ‘sterling’ and criticized the Obama campaign’s attacks on Romney’s background at  the private equity firm Bain Capital.

Around that time, he caused more headaches  for the Obama administration when he said he favored the extension of all of  George W Bush’s tax cuts. Obama has campaigned on repealing the cuts for the  richest Americans.

During the 2008 Democratic primary, Clinton  made headlines for calling the premise of Obama’s campaign, his opposition to  the Iraq War, ‘the biggest fairy tale I’ve ever seen.’

The  Amateur, by Edward Klein, is out this  week.

Health insurers using drug coverage to discriminate

Public Release: 28-Jan-2015

In some US health plans, HIV drugs cost nearly $3,000 more per year than in other plans. If left unchecked, this practice could partially undermine a central feature of the Affordable Care Act.

Harvard School of Public Health

Boston, MA — Some insurers offering health plans through the new federal marketplace may be using drug coverage decisions to discourage people with HIV from selecting their plans, according to a new study from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. The researchers found that these insurers are placing all HIV drugs in the highest cost-sharing category in their formularies (lists of the plans’ covered drugs and costs), which ends up costing people with HIV several thousands more dollars per year than those enrolled in other plans.

The study appears online January 28, 2015 in the New England Journal of Medicine.

“Eliminating discrimination on the basis of preexisting conditions is one of the central features of the Affordable Care Act (ACA),” said Doug Jacobs, MD/MPH candidate at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and lead author of the study. “However, the use of formularies to increase costs and dissuade those with preexisting conditions such as HIV from enrolling in the plan threatens to at least partially undermine this goal of the ACA.” Continue reading “Health insurers using drug coverage to discriminate”

US to open its doors to foreigners for Ebola treatment

The plans include special waiver of laws that ban the admission of non-citizens with a communicable disease as dangerous as Ebola in the country.

The proposal is yet to be presented to the Congress even though it would require its approval, the report said citing Judicial Watch.

US Salaries Down 23% Since 2008

U.S. jobs pay an average 23% less today than they did before the 2008 recession, according to a new report released on Monday by the United States Conference of Mayors.

In total, the report found $93 billion in lost wages.

Jobs lost during the recession paid an average $61,637. As of 2014, jobs in the same sectors paid an average of $47,171 annually.

“Under a similar analysis conducted by the Conference of Mayors during the 2001-2002 recession, the wage gap was only 12% compared to the current 23%–meaning the wage gap has nearly doubled from one recession to the next,” stated the Conference of Mayors in a statement.

The report also found that 73% of metro area households earn salaries of less than $35,000 a year.

President Barack Obama, who is on a two-week vacation at Martha’s Vineyard, has yet to comment on the dour economic findings. Continue reading “US Salaries Down 23% Since 2008”

US Law Enforcement sees Sovereign Citizens as Top Terrorist Threat

Monday, 04 August 2014

The sovereign citizen movement is considered the top threat for domestic terrorism, according to a survey of state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies.

Islamist extremists and militia/patriot groups round out the top three threats to communities in the United States considered most serious by 364 officers of 175 state, local, and tribal law enforcement entities, according to a survey conducted by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START).

The survey – “Understanding Law Enforcement Intelligence Processes” – found that “52 percent of respondents agreed and 34 percent strongly agreed that sovereign citizens were a serious terrorist threat” as opposed to 39 percent of respondents who agreed and 28 percent who strongly agreed that Islamic extremists were the most serious threat.

A previous sample on terror threats taken in 2006-2007 found that sovereign citizens were the eighth-most serious threat to non-federal law enforcement. Islamic extremists led that survey’s threat index.

The latest survey found that while sovereign citizens as a whole have moved into the top position overall, the threat posed by many individual groups that are considered part of the broad movement has decreased since the previous survey.

“[A]lthough estimates about some groups were a serious terrorist threat increased comparing the two time periods, (e.g., Left-Wing Revolutionaries; Extreme Anti-Abortion Extremists), the concern about whether most groups were a serious terrorist threat actually declined for most groups (e.g., the KKK; Christian Identity; Neo-Nazis; Racist Skinheads; Extremist Environmentalists; Extreme Animal Rights Extremists).” Continue reading “US Law Enforcement sees Sovereign Citizens as Top Terrorist Threat”

Obama failed to stop the Islamic State when he had the chance

By Marc A. Thiessen July 28

From Europe to the Middle East, we have seen how disaster follows U.S. retreat and disengagement from the world. But the one area where President Obama seemed to be leaning forward was drone strikes. He personally approved terrorist “kill lists” and has taken out many hundreds of terrorists with drones in Pakistan, Yemen and East Africa.

So why, when Iraqi officials began pleading with him one year ago to strike Islamic State terrorists with drones, did Obama repeatedly refuse — standing by while terrorists overran the country?

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce made the stunning revelation in a congressional hearing last week that Iraq had been urgently requesting drone support against the Islamic State since August 2013 and that those requests were repeatedly turned down. Revealed: How a taxpayer bail out that could run into BILLIONS was built in to Obamacare to protect insurance companies if they lost out in reform

  • The Affordable Care Act included a way for insurance companies to recoup their losses from covering everyone regardless of their health
  • If insurers lose money, the government’s funds – taxpayer dollars – cover between 50 and 80 percent of the losses for three years
  • Premiums for 2015 are expected to skyrocket before the November elections, and Democrats hope the payments will keep prices down
  • When the Obamacare law passed in 2010, it omitted the authority for the government to make these ‘risk corridors’ payments

Health insurance companies are poised to have access to billions of taxpayer dollars in what Republicans are calling an Obamacare ‘bailout.’

In a little-noticed regulation issued late last week, the Department of Health and Human Services authorized massive payments to insurers that lose money because of the Affordable Care Act’s requirement that they cover even the oldest and sickest Americans. Tens of Thousands Sign Petition to Reunite Alaska With Russia

18:43 25/03/2014
MOSCOW, March 25 (RIA Novosti) – Over 22,000 people have signed a petition calling for the secession of Alaska from the United States to seek reunification with Russia.

The petition, available on the White House website, opened on March 21. If the motion attracts 100,000 signatures within a month, the Obama administration is obliged to respond according to its guidelines.

The petition, entitled “Alaska Back to Russia,” encourages a vote on secession, citing historic travels of Russian explorers to Alaska, as far back as the crossing of native Siberians across the Bering land bridge over 10 thousand years ago.

The document tracks the settlement of the region by Russians, including Aleuts colonizing the Aleutian Archipelago, and the expedition of famed explorer Mikhail Gvozdez who first sited Alaska in 1732.

Does the West need a war against Russia? Pravda

EEV: It appears they made this move, because they perceive the Western Powers as weak. They are already projecting additional scenarios for a possible violent escalation.
– The U.S. Sixth Fleet headquartered in Naples may enter the Black Sea, but it has to pass through the Dardanelles and the Bosphorus, a move that Turkey that must authorize the passage of warships considers highly undesirable.
– Any decision on the land deployment of the U.S. forces or NATO near the borders of Ukraine is also hard to imagine. The West simply has neither resources nor desire to do this. All latest NATO’s military operations were air bombings.
– In Europe, Germany is generally averse to military actions, and is reluctant about getting involved even in peacekeeping operations. Paris is involved in Africa, and Francois Hollande has the lowest approval rating in the history of France
Does the West need a war against Russia?. 52315.jpeg

There have been remarkable changes in the U.S. rhetoric against Russia in the last few days. They ranged from threats to isolate the Russian Federation politically and economically to the acknowledgement that Moscow has its own interests in the Crimea, and Washington is ready to help Russia in “taming the hooligans.”

The change occurred after a telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama.

On Sunday, immediately after the Council of the Federation gave Putin permission to conduct military operations on the territory of Ukraine in the event of extraordinary situations, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said that the U.S. and the West were “prepared to put sanctions in place, … prepared to isolate Russia economically.”

“There are visa bans, asset freezes, isolation with respect to trade, investment,” Kerry said on CBS’s “Face The Nation.” “American businesses may well want to start thinking twice about whether they want to do business with a country that behaves like this. These are serious implications.” President Barack Obama mentioned that “there will be costs” if the troops are entered. Continue reading “Does the West need a war against Russia? Pravda”

As the Ukrainian-Russian standoff has threatened to escalate into all-out war, a new front nearly opened on Monday, as Turkey scrambled fighter jets in response to a Russian surveillance plane that flew along Turkey’s Black Sea coast.

Eight F-16 fighter jets were scrambled in the event, according to a Turkish military statement on Tuesday reported by the Turkish Hurriyet Daily News. The statement noted the Russian plane did not end up entering Turkish air space.

Turkey borders the Black Sea on the south, while the Ukrainian Crimean peninsula is at the sea’s north, and has been the site of the military standoff between Russia and Ukraine. Russia has voiced upset that its ally, former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, was forced to flee the country due to a popular movement that successfully installed a pro-West interim government. UNITED NATIONS, March 3 (Reuters) – Ukraine’s ousted leader Viktor Yanukovich has sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin requesting that he use Russia’s military to restore law and order in Ukraine, Moscow’s U.N. envoy told a stormy meeting of the Security Council on Monday.

“The country has plunged into chaos and anarchy,” Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin read from an unofficial translation of the letter while speaking to reporters after an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council. “The country is in the grip of outright terror and violence driven by the West.”

“People are persecuted on political and language grounds,” he read. “In this context, I appeal to the President of Russia Vladimir V. Putin to use the armed forces of the Russian Federation to re-establish the rule of law, peace, order, stability and to protect the people of Ukraine.”

Churkin held up a copy of the letter for council members to see during a heated council session in which Western envoys and the Russian ambassador hurled allegations at each other for two and a half hours. “The president’s national security team met today to receive an update on the situation in Ukraine and discuss potential policy options,” a White House official said Saturday night. Washington sources noted that President Obama skipped the meeting, which was attended by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey, and CIA Director John Brennan. Vice President Joe Biden reportedly only attended via videoconference, while Obama was briefed later by National Security Advisor Susan Rice.

Russian armored forces build up for Ukraine

As Moscow’s master plan for Ukraine continued to unfold, Russian forces Saturday, March 1, staged their first attack on a Ukraine military installation in Crimea, while completing their takeover of the region and its severance from Ukraine. Interfax reported from a Ukrainian source that 20 soldiers had entered an anti-aircraft missile command post in western Crimea and that negotiations rather than a clash were under way.

Earlier Saturday, Crimea’s new pro-Moscow prime minister Serhiy Aksyonov asked President Vladimir Putin for help in “maintaining peace in the region,” saying he was in control of the region’s interior ministry, armed forces, fleet and border guards. Russian President Vladimir Putin has requested the use of Russian military forces in Ukraine to settle the situation there. The Russian population and the Crimea-based Black Sea Fleet are threatened by the situation in the country, he said. Facts  you need to know about Crimea and why it is in turmoil Putin’s request was filed after the Chairman of the Federation  Council, Valentina Matvienko, said that in order to “protect  the people” Russia could theoretically send troops to  Ukraine. She particularly referred to the crisis in the  Autonomous Republic of Crimea, where Russians make the majority  of the population. “It’s possible in this situation, complying with a request by  the Crimean government, even to bring a limited contingent of our  troops to ensure the safety of the Black Sea Fleet and the  Russian citizens living on Crimean territory. The decision is for  the president, the chief military commander, to make, of course.  But today, taking the situation into account, even that variant  can’t be excluded. We need to protect the people,” Matvienko  said.

“In connection with the extraordinary situation in Ukraine, the    threat to the lives of citizens of the Russian Federation, our    compatriots, and the personnel of the armed forces of the    Russian Federation on Ukrainian territory (in the Autonomous    Republic of Crimea)… I submit a proposal on using the armed    forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine    until the normalization of the socio-political situation in the    that country.” Continue reading “Putin: Russian citizens, troops threatened in Ukraine, need armed forces’ protection”

Barack Obama begins a North American summit in Mexico on Wednesday with a gesture of defiance toward allies in Congress who are hampering his ability to negotiate controversial trade liberalisation agreements.

In the latest in a series of so-called executive actions promised in his state of the union address, the US president will sign new measures to speed up imports and exports for businesses by reducing bureaucratic barriers. Democrats promote positive message on Obamacare and work hours

– “Any law you pass that discourages people from working can’t be a good idea. Why would we want to do that? Why would we think that was a good thing?  How does that allow people to prepare for the time when they don’t work?”

Catfish oversight, weather radios and a Christmas tree tax: Meet the pork-filled $956 BILLION Farm Bill

EEV: Would Like Verification on the Claim ” $100 million will go to study how to get Americans to buy more maple syrup “

  • The massive five-years agriculture spending plan, signed Friday by President Obama, includes a $3 million plan for Christmas tree taxes
  • Most of the bill covers food stamps, with the number of benefit recipients doubling since Obama took office
  • The U.S. will spend $1 billion per year loaning money to sugar barons so they can keep prices stable and avoid overseas competition
  • Another $100 million will go to study how to get Americans to buy more maple syrup
  • $1 million will buy weather radios for rural Americans, despite plunging hundreds of weather apps for smartphones and plunging access rates

By David Martosko, U.s. Political Editor

UPDATED:          19:33 EST, 7 February 2014

The federal government pays for a $15 million ‘wool trust fund,’ runs a $170 million program to protect catfish growers from overseas competition, sets aside $3 million to promote Christmas trees, funds another $2 million to help farmers sell more sheep, and plunks down $100 million researching how to get Americans to buy more maple syrup.

And that spending is just three one-hundredths of one per cent of the Farm Bill that President Barack Obama signed Friday in Michigan.

Liberal and conservative watchdogs alike are hopping mad at what they say are pork-barrel projects included in the five-year agriculture spending law as home-state perks to lawmakers that are  unneeded or redundant.

There’s a new 15-cent levy on every live-cut Christmas tree, a proposal that Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack had blocked but will now be beyond his control. Tree growers will put the money into a fund for ‘industry-funded promotion, research, and information program[s],’ but the cost will inevitably be passed on to consumers.

Obama’s claim US tops China as No 1 investment destination questioned

Denise Tsang

UPDATED : Thursday, 30 January, 2014, 9:15am

US President Barack Obama proclaimed America had usurped China as the world’s No 1 investment destination, a bold statement that left some economists scratching their heads.

The White House cited an AT Kearney survey as the basis for Obama’s remark in his State of the Union address on Tuesday, noting the US topped the global consulting firm’s list for expected foreign direct investment.

But the US ranks lower in other prominent surveys. Forbes’ annual report on the best country to do business in put Ireland at the top, with the US at No 14, according to Politico’s website. It also noted that the Milken Institute – which measures countries on 67 variables, including economic fundamentals and regulations – put the United States at No 22, behind Hong Kong at No 1. Malik Obama, the president’s Kenyan half brother, was photographed in 2010 at a public event in Yemen wearing a ‘keffiyeh’ – a special scarf – bearing two anti-Israel slogans of the terror group Hamas, it emerged today.

‘Jerusalem is ours – WE ARE COMING,’ reads one saying. ‘From the river to the sea,’ says the other statement.

That rallying cry refers to Palestinian militants’ belief that the territory representing Israel, with the Jordan River to the east and the Mediterranean Sea to the west, rightfully belongs to them – and Israel should not exist.

Obama’s pick for Norway ambassador doesn’t know anything about Norway

George Tsunis should have Googled ‘Norway’ before his Senate hearing.

Right about now Obama is wishing he hadn’t nominated George Tsunis to be the next ambassador to Norway.

Partly because he doesn’t know really basic things about Norway (like the fact that they don’t have a president). But mainly because he made that very clear at his Senate hearing by doing things like referring to Norway’s “president.”

Tsunis, shockingly enough, is a top political donor. The businessman and lawyer from Long Island raised $988,550 for Obama in 2012.

Check this out:

Among his other blunders at the hearing, Tsunis referred to Norway’s Progress Party as being among “fringe elements” that have been denounced by the government. Continue reading “Obama’s pick for Norway ambassador doesn’t know anything about Norway”

One piece of the jigsaw puzzle is missing to complete the deflation landscape across the West: a slide in oil prices. This is becoming more likely each month.

Turmoil across the Middle East and parts of Africa has choked supply over the past two years, keeping Brent crude near $110 a barrel despite a broader commodity slump. Cotton and corn prices have halved, as has the UBS index of industrial metals. Such anomalies rarely last.

“We estimate that crude oil is now the mostly richly priced commodity in the world,” says Deutsche Bank in a fresh report. Continue reading “Coming ‘oil glut’ may push global economy into deflation”

Strained relations between the White House and its military leaders have been laid bare by former US defense secretary Robert Gates, who accuses President Barack Obama and his top civilian advisers of lacking faith in their own strategy for conducting the war in Afghanistan.

In a forthcoming memoir leaked to the New York Times and Washington Post that threatens to exacerbate current criticism of US policy in Afghanistan and Iraq, Gates – who was first appointed to his post by former President George W Bush – reveals, in a series of swipes that are surprisingly combative coming from such a senior former official, problems between the White House and the Pentagon that have made for troubling relations at the very highest levels. DNC sends email defending Obama from impeachment possibility

Posted By Patrick Howley On 7:11 PM  12/28/2013

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) sent out a paranoid email Saturday evening urging supporters to vote for Democrats so that Republicans can’t impeach President Obama.

The email, subject line “Impeachment,” was sent to Obama for America supporters, imploring them to contribute to the DNC’s 2014 efforts. “What do these people all have in common?,” the email asked, featuring quotes from Republican Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma, Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, Rep. Kerry Bentivolio of Michigan, and Rep. Blake Farenthold of Texas discussing the possibility of impeaching Obama for one of his numerous instances of presidential misconduct.

The DNC email discussed the “I-Word” and said that “Republicans are actually excited about the idea.” Continue reading “DNC sends email defending Obama from impeachment possibility”

South African ‘interpreter’ fake-signed anti-white song, also accused of murder [VIDEO]

South African ‘interpreter’ fake-signed anti-white song, also accused of murder [VIDEO]

2:34 PM  12/13/2013

The man who used jibberish sign language at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service also used incoherent hand gestures to sign a notorious anti-white song sung last year by current South African President Jacob Zuma.

Thamsanqua Jantjie, 34, late said that he is schizophrenic and was hallucinating during the Mandela memorial speeches. The interpreter also admitted that he’d been prone to fits of violence in the past, an admission that was worrisome given his proximity to President Barack Obama and other world leaders.

According to NBC News, Jantjie has worked two other gigs on behalf of the African National Congress (ANC), South Africa’s majority party. He was paid $85 per diem for his work at the memorial, NBC reported.

One was an event where President Zuma led gatherers in “Kill the Boer,” an apartheid protest song that South African courts have ruled is hate speech.

Boer is an Afrikaans word for farmer and is often used to refer to whites. Thousands of South Africa’s white farmers have been murdered since the end of apartheid. Some have called this a form of genocide and claim that the song provokes racial violence.

Zuma and other ANC leaders have come under fire in the past for singing the song. The ANC largely defends the song as part of the history of its struggle against apartheid-era oppression.

But the hearing-impaired would not have understood Jantjie’s interpretation of the violent song, which contains lyrics like “We going to shoot them with the machine gun” and “You are a Boer, we are going to hit them and you are going to run.”

“He does not interpret a bit at the beginning where Zuma says ‘Come together all the winners,’” said Bencie Woll, director of the Deafness Cognition and Language Research Centre at University College, London. “As an interpreter, he should be interpreting everything said by the speaker. When he does sign, there is little evidence of any facial expression, just as in the Mandela clip.”

Woll said that while she cannot say whether Jantjie was using South African sign language, “Kill the Boer” has many iconic signs.

“I can identify SHOOT, RUN, WILL etc., and these are repeated throughout the various verses. All of what he does looks very inexpressive and mechanistic,” Woll told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Jantjie, who stands as close to Zuma during the song as he did to Obama during his Mandela memorial speech, gestures sporadically during the song. He mimics what looks like someone firing a machine gun and also pumps his arms as if running, though he offers no signs for other song lyrics.

Jantjie’s fraudulent interpretations may be some of his least disturbing behavior. On Friday, reported that Jantjie was accused of murder in 2003. He also faced charges for kidnapping, theft, housebreaking and attempted murder. Jantjie was sentenced to three years in prison in the theft case, though there are no records to indicate whether he served the sentence, according to eNCA.

South Africa is searching for a sign language interpreter who failed to translate what world leaders said at the memorial of anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela on Tuesday. Outraged by the incident, the deaf community has confirmed the man was a fake.

Sign language translator at Nelson Mandela’s memorial was a FAKE: South Africa’s deaf federation confirms his movements had ‘no meaning’

  • Standing on stage during televised event at the FNB stadium
  • Some members of the deaf community took to Twitter to express outrage

An interpreter who was seen by millions of television viewers worldwide translating Nelson Mandela’s memorial service into sign language was a ‘fake’, according to South Africa’s deaf federation.

The unidentified man, who was broadcast standing alongside world leaders including US President Barack Obama, was making up his own signs, according to the Deaf Federation of South Africa.

With the eyes of the world watching the FNB stadium in Johannesburg, the interpreter was ‘moving his hands around but there  was no meaning in what he used his hands for,’ claimed Bruno Druchen, the  federation’s national director.

The embarrassing claim comes after yesterday’s ceremony which saw crowds in the third empty stadium boo the country’s president Jacob Zuma.
