Admiral among US Navy officers accused of trading sex for secrets

The fraudster at centre of scandal known as ‘Fat Leonard’ has admitted using prostitutes and extravagant dinners to coax vessels in the US Seventh Fleet to his contracting facilities.

The American Navy officers are accused of accepting Cuban cigars, tens of thousands of dollars of Champagne and the services of prostitutes.

In return, they allegedly supplied inside information on the movements of US Seventh Fleet to a man known as Fat Leonard who used the tips to secure inflated contracts for his maritime servicing company.

On Tuesday, another nine current and former officers were charged in one of the biggest corruption scandals to rock the US Navy as newly unsealed court documents revealed fresh details of alleged wrongdoing.
