Meddling bureaucrats are coming for our kettles

The EU are planning legislation to ban the most energy inefficient kettles and toasters
Their top targets are kettles, toasters and hairdryers but they are also considering stringent new energy restrictions on mobile phones, patio jet-washers and internet routers.
Lest we forget they have already banned incandescent lightbulbs and imposed limits on the power output of vacuum cleaners.
We have since been left with bulbs that are too dim and take an age to warm up and vacuum cleaners that lack the oomph to get the job done. Vote to stay in and we risk similar problems every time we try to make a cup of tea, eat a slice of toast or dry our hair.
The rules will be portrayed as an attempt to get emissions under control. In reality this is at best a secondary consideration. The real aim of the eurocrats is to boost their own power.
Every time they successfully extend Brussels regulations to cover something new they are taking more sovereignty away from member states.
Driven by their ceaseless quest to build a European superstate they are never going to stop encroaching on more and more areas of our lives.
If we choose to remain part of the EU we will be at the mercy of these dictatorial bureaucrats. We must not waste our chance to get rid of the lot of them for good.
